Abstract

In the environment of a progressively globalized cultural economy growing progressively global, digital art collections and library archives have emerged as valuable resources, which could be utilized to support cross-cultural art critique and promote creative business. The academics, artists, and entrepreneurial creatives use these digital platforms to interact critically with art that crosses cultural, geographical, and time boundaries. They accomplish this by providing easy and systematic accessibility to a wide array of artistic collections, historical documentaries, and multimedia content. Comparative analyses can be done, artistic traditions reinterpreted and marginalized and indigenous art forms preserved by using digital repositories. Traditional archives do not always reflect such types of art adequately. Simultaneously, they are hubs of innovation as they offer assistance to creative industries through inspiration, sharing of knowledge and applications that are market-oriented in the form of digital exhibits, licensing and cultural branding.
